Attention: Military Crisis Line calls from Europe and Korea

Service members overseas can reach crisis services by calling 00800 1273 8255 or DSN 118 for (Europe) and 0808 555 118 or DSN 118 (Korea). Service members may have difficulty reaching VCL by chat, although many are successful using the internet connection on their personal phone. Technicians at the VA and DoD are working diligently on improvements to international phone and chat services.

What to Expect

If you’re a Veteran in crisis or concerned about one, crisis chat is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  1. A caring VA responder will join the chat, ready to listen and help.

  2. The responder will ask a few questions, such as whether you or the Veteran or service member you’re concerned about may be in immediate danger or at risk for suicide.

  3. The chat is free and confidential, and you decide how much information to share.

  4. Support doesn't end with your conversation. Our responders can connect you with the resources you need.

  5. Afterward you may be connected with your local suicide prevention coordinator, who will contact you the next business day for continued support.
